To generate compressed air for industry and commerce, where compressed air is used as an energy source, so-called compressed air generation facilities are used. A central component of these installations is the compressor. In this the mechanical energy supplied is converted into an increase in air pressure. Compressed air generation facilities are used to drive machines in mining, for pneumatic controls in assembly operations or as tire inflation facilities in gas stations.
