HEAT TRANSFER IN FLUIDIZED BED
Fluidized beds are used in a wide range of applications, for example for industrial drying, fluidized bed combustion or heat treatment of materials. Bulk solids transform from a fixed bed to a fluidized bed when fluids pass through them. In terms of mechanical and thermodynamic properties of the fluid, the fluidized bed behaves like an incompressible fluid. Heat transfer between the hot fluid and a fixed bed occurs mainly through heat conduction. Due to the movement of the particles, the fluid and particles mix very well in the fluidized bed. This allows optimal heat transfer between the fluid and the particles and ensures uniform temperature distribution in the reactor.
