BIOGAS PLANT

The CE 642 experimental plant serves to demonstrate the generation of biogas in a practical way. The substrate is a suspension of crumbled organic solids. It is hydrolyzed and acidified in the first stirred tank reactor. Here, anaerobic microorganisms convert long-chain organic substances into short-chain organic substances. Biogas is formed in the second stirred tank reactor in the last step of anaerobic degradation. It mainly contains methane and carbon dioxide. This two-stage method allows the environmental conditions in both reactors to be adjusted and optimized separately. The digestate is collected in a separate tank.
