One area of application for gas cyclones is the prefiltration of solids from gases. Gas cyclones have no moving parts, as do low maintenance systems. Gas cylinders can also be used in combination with high gas temperatures. For these reasons they are in widespread use.This instructor was developed in cooperation with the Institute of Solid Process Engineering and Particle Technology at TU Hamburg-Harburg. A disperser is used to finely disperse the feed material (quartz powder recommended) in an air stream. The air flow loaded with solid material (raw gas) is thus fed tangentially into the cyclone at the top.
